And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
What is “discipleship?” Discipleship to Christ (not to a church or pastor) begins after a person is saved. Christian discipleship is the process of growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ as we learn more about Him and seek to become more like Him.
Three Fold Cord
Jesus spent time with groups of people as well as individuals. Sometimes the group was a multitude (Matthew 5:1), and other times a group of 120 (Acts 1:15) or of 70 (Luke 10:1). But most often Jesus was with 12 men (Mark 3:14), or even more intimately with 3 (Matthew 17:1). There is strong biblical precedent and power in a “Three-fold Cord”.
A “Three-Fold Cord” group is a learner-driven discipleship method that promotes the development of Christian Growth Disciplines.

We are excited to begin offering Life Groups!
What is a Life Group? A Life Group is a small gathering of people in a home or in a designated Life Group room at the church building on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis to share fellowship, Bible study, and prayer (and sometimes food!). Life Groups exist to accomplish two vital goals of the Kingdom: To edify believers by connecting them on a more intimate level as they seek to become more like Jesus; and to evangelize by offering a venue other than the regular church service for those interested in learning more about Jesus.
Life Groups will begin meeting the week of April 24 and will continue for approximately 8 weeks.
Potential topics for the groups will be:
In this Life Group, we will be seeking to challenge unbelievers toward a relationship with Jesus Christ and to challenge believers toward: Relationships in our church family; Instruction in God’s Word; Service in our church ministry; and Evangelism in our world. We will cover: the basics of church history and the Bible; practical steps to reading and understanding the Bible; prayer; financial giving; church membership; identifying your spiritual gift(s); and sharing the Gospel with others.
Evangelism: “Way of the Master” by Ray Comfort/Living Waters
Want to share the Gospel but not sure how? Scared? Feel unequipped? In this Life Group, we will explore practical ways to turn a secular conversation into a spiritual conversation and then present the Gospel in a non-offensive manner.
Marriage: “Experiencing God’s Dream for Your Marriage” by Chip Ingram
Marriage is a wonderful gift from God and provides us an opportunity to share the journey of life with another.
In this Life Group, we will be exploring God’s design for marriage. More than simply understanding God’s pattern for marriage, the goal is that you experience God’s best for your marriage. It will not be easy. It will take focus and hard work and unselfishness. But the payoff is huge. Learning to love a person for a lifetime is one of the hardest and yet most rewarding things you will ever do. These sessions will be practical, fun, and challenging. You are going to learn things about yourself and your spouse that you never knew. You are going to acquire some tools that will strengthen your marriage.
Time Management: “Balancing Life’s Demands – Biblical Priorities for a Busy Life” by Chip Ingram
Are you busy, tired, stressed out, and stretched to the limit? Does life seem a little out of control? Are you running long on “to do’s” and short on time? In this Life Group, we will be exploring how to put “first things first” and find peace in the midst of pressure and adversity. This isn’t about cliches or quick fixes, just practical biblical insights to help you order your personal world. This practical series will help you discover God’s plan for handling life’s challenges.
